Copenhagen fancied to extend dominance over Silkeborg

The second round of the Danish Superliga continues late on Sunday night, with Copenhagen away to Silkeborg. Copenhagen have taken all three points from the last two meetings between the sides, and after scoring three goals in the opening league round, they head into this trip with strong momentum in attack.

Silkeborg have now missed out on the championship round for two straight seasons, and last season they only just managed to secure survival. They have not been considered one of the stronger sides in the Danish top flight for some time. Although they won their final two pre-season friendlies, those victories came against Thisted and AaB, opponents whose level is difficult to compare with regular Superliga competition. It was no surprise, then, that Silkeborg could only manage a draw in the first round of the new season. Against a resurgent Copenhagen side this week, they look set for another difficult night.

Copenhagen have not only won each of their last two matches against Silkeborg, but have also scored 11 goals and conceded none in those games, underlining the clear gap between the teams. As one of Denmark's traditional powerhouses, Copenhagen won the title in the 2024-25 season, but dropping into the relegation group last season was clearly unacceptable by their standards.

In the opening round of the new campaign, Copenhagen signalled their return in style. A brace from Biga Maning and a late goal from Mohammed Ayolous helped them come from behind to beat Lyngby 3-2 and open the season with a win. Having scored eight goals across their last three competitive matches, Copenhagen's attacking form is highly impressive, and they will believe they can produce another emphatic result against Silkeborg.
