Cruz Azul Backed to Secure Home Win Over Atlante

Cruz Azul will be without Amaury Morales because of a knee injury.

Cruz Azul are coming off a 2-1 home comeback win over Puebla in their last league match, maintaining their perfect start to the season. Luka Romero scored to cancel out Monarrez's opener, before substitute Gabriel Fernandez completed the turnaround late on. Cruz Azul controlled 67% of possession and produced seven shots on target, although they have now conceded first in both of their league games.

Atlante, meanwhile, drew 1-1 at home with Club America to claim their first point since returning to the top flight. Cristian Borja gave Club America the lead in the 21st minute, but Bisoto equalised for Atlante in the second half. Atlante showed resilience, but Club America created the more dangerous chances, and goalkeeper Oscar Jimenez had to make several saves to preserve the draw.

Since returning to the top division, Atlante have shown in their opening two matches that they can be competitive and are far from pushovers. Even so, this will be another stern test. Reigning champions Cruz Azul have greater depth in attack and players on the bench capable of changing the game. They may have started slowly again this season, but their overall quality should eventually prove too much for Atlante, and they are backed to take all three points at home.

The two sides have not met in Mexico's top flight since Atlante were relegated in 2014, when Cruz Azul won 4-1. Including league and cup matches, Cruz Azul are unbeaten in 13 meetings between the teams.
