Shaky Motherwell Defence Points to Over Goals

Motherwell have appointed former Rosenborg boss Alfred Johansson as their new manager this summer and successfully signed centre-back Kye Rowles from St. Louis City SC. However, goalkeeper Calum Ward has left for Queens Park Rangers, while midfielder Slattery has joined Sheffield Wednesday.

Torshavn remain under young coach Andao Son this summer, with little change to the squad. Only forward Erik Sorga has departed after his contract expired, while newly signed young winger Mikkjal has recently been sidelined by injury.

Motherwell will be without striker Conor Huntly through injury, while Torshavn are missing midfielder Mikkjal. Neither side has any suspensions.

Although Motherwell finished fourth in the league last season, they have generally struggled in European competition and their overall level remains limited. Their pre-season friendly results have also been poor, with too many goals conceded. Torshavn are an ordinary side and have been inconsistent in recent domestic matches, but against a Motherwell team that may be stronger on paper yet shaky at the back, the preferred angle is over goals.

The two teams have not met in recent years.
