Team news: Mirassol will be without starting defender William Machado through suspension. The club have also signed five new players, including striker Bruno Santos, who currently leads the Brazilian Serie B scoring chart.

Gremio are missing starting forward Andre Morato due to yellow-card accumulation. However, goalkeeper Weverton and Fabian Balbuena have returned after international duty with Brazil and Paraguay in World Cup competition and are available again for coach Luis Castro. At the same time, the club have strengthened the squad by signing forward Matheus Nascimento.

Mirassol suspended: William Machado (yellow-card accumulation). Doubtful: none. Injured/unavailable: Igor Formiga (left thigh), Niko Henrique (right knee), Nathan Fonseca (left ankle).

Gremio suspended: Andre Morato (yellow-card accumulation), Thiago (red card). Doubtful: none. Injured/unavailable: Marlon (right ankle).

Main pick: Home win.

Mirassol lost 1-0 away to Athletico Paranaense in their last outing. Even on the road they controlled most of the match, but failed to create clear-cut chances and were eventually punished late on by league top scorer Vitor Roque. The defeat left Mirassol on 16 points in the relegation zone, five points behind Gremio, who sit just outside the drop zone.

Gremio, meanwhile, went down 3-1 at home to Corinthians in their previous league game. They started well, took the lead and looked in control early on, but their performance dipped after going ahead. Corinthians took over, Gremio offered little after conceding the equaliser, and they then shipped two more goals. With the team failing to show authority, coach Luis Castro remains under pressure as Gremio hover just above the relegation places.

Both sides are under pressure in the survival battle, but Mirassol's board appear to have greater faith in coach Guaranas, and the mood in the camp looks better. Backed by home support, they are tipped to take all three points.

Head-to-head: Mirassol have won all three previous meetings against Gremio.
