Journalist Fabrizio Romano has issued his trademark "here we go" update, confirming that Zinedine Zidane will become the new head coach of the France national team. The intention had already been settled last year, and the process moved forward without any changes. Zidane has already finalized his coaching staff, and the two sides are set to complete the formal signing this month.
Under the current plan, Zidane will lead France in the upcoming UEFA Nations League, Euro 2028, and the 2030 World Cup.
Romano had previously revealed the development, noting that Zidane turned down coaching offers from several clubs because taking charge of the France national team had always been his goal and ambition.
Now 54, Zidane has an outstanding managerial resume. He led Real Madrid to three straight UEFA Champions League titles and also won two La Liga crowns, two FIFA Club World Cups, and other honors. Since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, Zidane has remained out of management.
