After Shanghai Port's 2-1 win over Shanghai Segenda, head coach Kevin Muscat summed up the match by noting that everyone knows the FA Cup is a single-elimination competition, so the result is naturally the most important thing.

He said the team knew their opponents would give everything in this game. Although the opposition's new foreign head coach has not been in place for long, Muscat said it was clear he had already organized the team well in both attack and defence.

Muscat added that he was pleased his side had progressed to the next round of the FA Cup and said the team would now look ahead and fully prepare for the upcoming fixtures.

Speaking about the performances and future development of Shanghai Port's young reserve players, Muscat said it is still too early to predict how the youngsters will develop. However, he noted that throughout the season the club has been bold in using young players from the Shanghai Port Fusheng Economic Development team.

He said those players are currently competing in China League Two, where the team has produced strong overall results and several individuals have also stood out. As long as they continue to deliver excellent performances, Muscat said the club will not hesitate to give them opportunities and provide a platform to showcase themselves.
